Ergonomically designed Workplace   (Sitting on a Desk / Mixer / Workstation)

Control Board / Table Size

From the German standard DIN 15996 (2004-09) 'Bild- und Tonbearbeitung in Film-, Video- und Rundfunkbetrieben - Anforderungen an den Arbeitsplatz'

table height: 750 mm - 780 mm
foot room height: 660 mm - 690 mm, foot room width: min 580 mm
foot room depth in floor height: min 600 mm, foot room depth in knee height: min 450 mm

Office Table Sizes

For standard office work the table size should be at least 160 cm x 80 cm. In special cases (call centers etc.) the size can be smaller, like 120 cm x 80 cm. To avoid mirror effects, the surface should be reflection free and not too bright and not too dark. Metal and glass should be avoided, because it has a too high heat conductivity and touching it the surface feels displeasingly cold.
The depth of the table should allow a distance between monitor and eyes of at least 50 cm. For larger displays an even larger distance is needed. This can require a table depth of 90 or 100 cm.
The height of the office table should be by standard 74cm. But today office tables should have adjustable height. A good table can be adjusted between 62 and 85 cm.

Carrying Capacity on Office Tables

An office table should be stable, vibration-free and should have enough flexural rigidity. An office table must be able to hold a load of at leat 75 kg at the center of the table (an on the table sitting person).
