The standard SMPTE 311 was established in 1998 by the Society of Motion Picture and
Television Engineers (SMPTE).
It defines television camera cables for High-Definition Television to assure clear, reliable transmission of
audio, video and camera control data.
The defined cable incorporates:
two tight-buffer, single-mode 10µm optical fibers for video, color-coded in blue and yellow
four 20 AWG or two 16 AWG conductors for power
two 24 AWG conductors for control and sound
